We replaced three tan raised-panel garage doors at this Modesto home with black CHI Skyline Flush steel doors, one 9-by-7 door for each bay. All three also got new LiftMaster openers.
Black against tan siding
Black works well on a house with tan siding and trim. It gives the garage a clean, modern face without repainting the house. A flush door suits that look, with no raised panels to break up the color.
Stacked windows with tinted glass
Each door has four long windows stacked down one side, one in each section, with tinted glass in black frames. From the street, tinted glass stays dark and blends into the door, but it still lets daylight in. With three doors in a row, keeping the windows on the same side of each one makes the set look planned.
Black weatherseal to match
We ran black vinyl stop around all three openings. That’s the weatherseal around the opening that the door closes against. In white or tan, it would draw a light outline around each black door.
Similar door options
Skyline Flush comes in Black and woodtone finishes, with long, short or StyleLite windows depending on the model. Dark doors soak up more summer heat, so on a Valley garage it’s worth comparing the insulated models.
